MVC 4 and Entityframework

We are about to start new project in MVC4.

Below is the best set of technologies :-
MVC4, HTML5, CSS3 and Entity framework.

Some people says Entity framework is not good for application, if yes what would be the alternative approach.

What i mean MVC4 without Entity framework means what we need to use?

What i would suggest MVC 4 with Entity Framework is the best combination.
