What?

Why not? I have VS2008 and VS2010 installed, and they have no problem at all sitting on teh same PC with SQL Server 2008 R2 and all are working fine.

Does it error on yours? If so, what error?

You talk of: I cant install SQl2008 and say you tried/searched and asked what to do.
Then you say I don't want uninstall Visual Studio 2008..

Earlier, I thought how are the two related here in your question?

Then, quoting your question title error: previous releases of visual studio 2008:
When I do a quick Google[^] on it, I get:
Rule "Previous releases of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008" failed [^]
FIX: Rule “Previous releases of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008″ failed[^]

Go through the links, they should help you out.

Sandeep, the two questions are not incompatible, read thoroughly.

I don't get it. Come again.

Initially, I too thought like OriginalGriff, but then it looked question badly framed. When I Googled the error, I could like SQL Server 2008 install error when VS 2008 is already present, hence was my reply regarding the same.

I'm not against your answer, I only not that two parts of the question do not contradict.
"I can't install SQL2008..", OK, fine, by some reason.
"I don't want to uninstall Visual Studio...", just a note, fine, too: OP installed the two all together and got a confusion that there are related. You correctly answered. I only say, before your answer is taken that would be a correct question base on OP confusion.

Oh! ...Actually, my note was indeed pointless because you did not say the two contradict, you also asked "how are the two related?" so you did not understand it wrong. Sorry for confusion.

By the way, you answer deserves 5, I'll vote this time.

Thanks for your note.
