In Windows XP I was able (before upgrading to 7) to open a folder of JPGs (or TIFs) and arrange them while in view thumbnails or view slide-show by dragging them around and placing them in whatever sequence I chose.

They then had to be renamed (alphabetically or numerically)to maintain that sequence. However, the arrangement could first be seen before that assignment. Windows 7 allows visual arrangement only by renaming first. This is horribly inefficient for constructing arrangements or slide-shows.

It is apparently not possible to customize Windows 7 to allow this. Windows XP could do this but I don't know if the download of: ClassicShellSetup_2_9_3.exe will restore that option.

The tech assistant who has responded seems disinclined to tell me and that is the simple question I am asking.

Thank you,

Michael

Instead of reasking the same question again and again - why don't you just try it out and see if it works for you?
