Okay, this isn't a straightforward question. When you talk about extracting distances, are you talking about the distances in a straight line - or are you talking about driving/walking directions?

If you're talking about straight line distances, this[^] is a good resource.

If it's driving distance, then this[^] article from the same author looks to be very good.

You don't actually need to load the sample - he's posted all the code on his page. You can build it from that.
