How can i use singe list variable during postback ..

I have one model popup .. from which i am adding two values , that i want to store in listitem , This value can be store multiple time by opening popup gain and again ,, how can i use single variable to add new values .. so that at my second save button which is final i will get all list values .. which can gets added ... for tempory purpose before that final save button gets clicked .. i want to maintain that value in single listvariable .. but when i again click open that popup .. it again gets initialize and i am loozing my old values .. how can i maintain same values ..
