how to change the gridview value at runtime to show data

Pls some one tell that how to change the value of gridview at run time, like in database table department column has the values HR, IT, MD

but i need to show data in gridview at run time which convert the HR to Human resource, IT to Information Technology and MD to Managing Director.

Pls spme one tell that how to change table colimn values to another way, Pls anyone help me to solve this....

How are you populating the GridView?

If you are populating the grid dynamically, then you check for the column value and replace it with new values.

you can set the display name of your grid column to the name you want to show to the user and use the exact column name to bind that column with the database column.
