1) Is it possible to use a U.are.U 4500 fingerprint reader to allow someone to log into my website?

2) If it is possible, is the U.are.U 4500 fingerprint readers plug and play? Meaning if you have one you can just plug it into any PC, go to my website and use it to log in?

you can ask the manufacture about the plug'n play rediness of this reader. If it requires a seperate driver installation then it's going to be extremely difficult to use it the intended way. If it's really plug'n play then you can either create an applet or a BHO to use it from within the web page. Please get hands on their SDK.

Thank you very much for your comment, in the end I used a ActiveX control which is basically your applet idea. Thanks

The U.are.U 4500 fingerprint reader ships a active X control in their SDK's, so I just used that to make user sign in using the U.are.U 4500 fingerprint reader.

I had to install the activex control on the computer I'm going to use it for, but it's mainly used for Time keeping for employees so the computer is in a controlled environment.

Hi - I was looking to do the same thing - use the U.are.U 4500 for time keeping. I have an ASP.NET website where they currently use a barcode reader to log in with their badges. Now they want to use a finger print reader. Can you share more on how you did this? I purchased the same fingerprint reader - just trying to figure out how to set this up in the app.
