IFAIK, they use Python[^] for the web application. I read it in some of the Google's website itself. Let me find out the link.

they used not a perticular on language .

1. they are using python for main server side .
2. they are using ajax ( javascript+xml ) for google maps and gmail.
3. they are using own API's with a big bunch of libraries for other applications .
4. even they are using c++ for some applications .

Mostly Java , PHP 4x . Its just a guess only .
