Both render to in final html page. Both can have runat="server" property and will be accessible in .cs file. <asp.hyperlink> have some extended property that can serve different purpose. Now let me know what you want to do.. then only one can suggest which one to use.

When you require link url dynmically then can use asp tag else normal html anchor is good.

that you have to decide from me if i have static content which have fixed type of like and source is on one place then i am using anchor and if i want coding onclick of that then i am using hyperlink simple hyperlink have postbackurl also............
