I downloaded ms sql server 2008 R2 Express from microsoft site i installed it successfully but i am unable to log into it whenever i use WIndows authentication i get this ...

Solution 1

On server name select the appropriate instance.Also refer to below link

Cannot connect to local SQL Server with Management Studio

Try starting the sql server services manually. type services.msc in search box,hit enter.

There are two sa and two (local) i tried all 4 its the same story with all of them

have you tried (local)\SQLEXPRESS?Start all the sql server related services as i stated before in updated answer.It will definitely resolves the issue.
