Website health Check Through Code

Hi All,

I am trying to develop an C# application which helps to health check of an website.
I dont know how to start and how to check .Can any one help me.(I tried google didnt find solution).

Please help me.

Like some time the applications will not be available when we hit on the URl..That time we need to send a mail to Mantainance based the page availability.

You want to monitor a single site?
You want to monitor responsiveness of a web application or just of the web server?
You want a continuous monitoring or single check?
What are the acceptable parameter ranges?
