Who is responsible to install SQL Server?

Dear All,
I need a hint!
I decided to buy a SQL Server 2012 Enterprise Edition (EE) for my organisation. My IT Department says that for Installing and licensing we need an expert. Is it really like that? Do they need a technical assistance from supplier i mean microsoft resellers or not?

Solution 1

Installing SQL Server is not that difficult (essentially yes,next).

Using SQL Server and maintaining it is another matter, which requires knowledge, expertise and experience.

For installing no, anyone can do it.

For using it effectively then you probably need a DBA to assist you in the development and deployment of databases.

We do have DBA but if he faces a problem whom should he contact? Microsoft or who?

Your DBA probably knows who to contact for more information if you ask him, you can always use yellowpages/directory services/ask around, for your neighborhood DB consultant.

Hi,

If any person from background of Computer knowledge can install SQL server with the little help from MSDN Documents.

Basic installation is as simple as we used to do some other installation. Here[^] you can found installation steps.

But configuring SQL Server for best performance for your organization needs some consultant.

The person who is having knowledge of SQL will help you to install SQL server initially. You have not specify why you need to purchase SQL server ?
