want to learn oracle

i want to begin using oracle database server by creating databases and applications on it

what version i must to setup and how to get it and if there is any configuration

assume i use windows and ubuntu

tell me please how to start

Note: i am very good using SQL Server 2008

Wow... if I was going to be trying to learn Oracle I would be hopping over the Oracle website and seeing if there was anything there that would help me learn about their product.

about how to use it i have alot of books i want to know what to setup? there are alot of things and i can not choose what to setup oracle 10g or 11g and if to setup oracle client or only oracle and i listen to something called data configuration

I am absolutely positive that if you were to go to the Oracle website and ask them your questions, you would find someone that not only knew something about Oracle but could tell you everything that you could possibly want to know. That is their job after all. Everything that you are asking is probably in those "alot of books" that you mention. "setup oracle 10g or 11g".. how are we supposed to know that? Setup the version of Oracle that meets your needs. We cannot possbily know that. "setup oracle client"... I imagine that you will need a client to connect to the server, don't you? And I highly doubt you will ever "listen to something called data configuration". You might have to use a data configuration or set one up but listen to it?

i will begin first to install oracle 11g enterprise edition from here

on windows and ubuntu then i will see what will appear to me

if it will be familiar to me (like sql server or mysql) it is ok

if not and i can not to create database only create tables like what i faced on oracle 10g express edition then i will begin to ask

Solution 1

Install the latest version of Oracle. It is a massive "program" even bigger than SQL so you'll need to refer to the documentation on Oracle's website.

i did it

i want to ask a question

when i install it and open it i can create tables and show its data but i can not create new database

is oracle not like sql that we can not create more than one database over one server?
