Answering your own question when you find a solution is usually a good practice but, in this case, I think you are going a bit too far.

C# is a .NET language created my MS to act as a go between for C++ and VB.

It is based on C++ but has a similar syntax and construct as VB.Net

Oftentimes the code is freely interchangeable (with obvious alterations, but the concepts are similar).

Check out microsofts site on it and download the c# express edition.

C# is a cool programming language that will save you lot of headaches. For my opinion, C# is very intuitive, so reading C# books and online tutorials will definitely move you farther.
