i have to connect my vb.net application to sql server for my collage projcet,i can easily connect ms-access to vb.net,but dont know about sql server,pls tell me how can i start sql server and where can i write my commonds or sql statements

You need to undergo training in asp.net, ado.net and C# or VB.net before you start with programming.

Go to start menu -> All Programs-> Sql Server 2008 R2-> SQL server management studio...

If you are looking for logging, use user name as sa and passowrd or use windows authentication option to logging.
