Problem on Edit Command of GridView

there is a problem on populating combobox on edit command of gridview...
there is 2 combo.
i am populating the 2nd combo on selectedIndexChanged Event Of 1st Combo and save it to grid view .
but when i m editing gridview to update it then 1st one is working & the 2nd is throwing "object reference not set to an instance of object" Error..

Please help to avoid this type of error.What should i do..
