c# Connectivity with any Database

Can We connect C# app to DATABASE without ConnectionString,Command??

Or any New method is there because when we did thiz any person is able to read our servername and password.
So how to Protect it.

VS.NET provides alternative method for that,I think so.
connStr,cmd are older methods.
