It's depend upon the requirement OR the way you are using the files.
Why you need that files ? what is your functionality ?

I m developing a portal in which i am storing and handling pdfs, I can say
the size of pdf would may exceeds 5 mb. I may store 500 pdfs for every quater and also i will allow the user to view pdf files in my application.

There is a time delay and security risks are there..

would you tell me the best way to handle pdf files in web application.
