enabling downloads in website

how can I enable downloads in my web application, so that one can download something like word file from my site, I'm going to build my site in C#, please answer this. Thank you

I didn't get your question? Just provide the download link at your website. That will be available to download, whosoever click it.

i don't mean to include another url in my site, what i mean to say is to just enable my site so that viewer would be able to download files like word , pdf etc within my site

Still not clear. Are you saying, you site webpage would be download as in form of pdf or word etc..?

no sir what i mean to say is my site would contain a download link as it happens to be in most educational sites, through this link students would be able to download files like admission form, syllabus etc
