Good question, Take a 5.

I've always assumed that products developed using the free versions of Microsoft's Visual Studio tools were limited to personal use only, but your question led me to research it a bit for the first time. My reading of the EULA leads me to believe that, while you may not make the Visual Web Developer tool available to others, any software products which you create using the tool is freely distributable, even if you charge for your product. That's an interesting change, since not too many years ago I was developing Access applications, and I stopped because if my potential customer didn't have Office installed, I would have to pay large amounts per seat to distribute the Jet database engine with my products. This is an interesting and positive change in Microsoft's attitude, and I thank you for leading me to discovering it.

On another note, though, I would recommend that you study several licenses using the web as a resource. You probably will want to protect your own work from copying by others, if it's something that might be useful to many potential clients. If you just release it "into the wild" without licensing restrictions, it becomes public domain software, and anyone can copy it and use it freely.

Good question, Tinwar, and one that I'm sure many have wondered about...
