Pocketsphinx on freebsd: FATAL_ERROR: "continuous.c", line 254: failed to calibrate voice activity detection

I have installed (pkg install audio/pocketsphinx) and is trying out the testing command (

pocketsphinx_continuous -inmic yes

), but am met with the following screen:

INFO: continuous.c(371): pocketsphinx_continuous COMPILED ON: Nov 5 2022, AT: 18:36:17

FATAL_ERROR: "continuous.c", line 254: Failed to calibrate voice activity detection

Yes my date/time settings are off for some reason but other than than what could be the problem? I heard somebody mention this was an bug in an older version, so do i have to uninstall it and compile it myself? (i installed using pkg install)

What I have tried:

Nothing. I heard i might need to uninstall and compile from source but I need to research how to do this and wanted to ask in case there was an easier fix.
