Hi Everyone

I'm trying to install hotfix KB976477 so that we can use a VSTO add-in for all users and no matter what I do I cannot get around the "The expected version of the product was not found on the system." error. I have installed Office 2007 Professional Plus, Ultimate, every version we have around that I can get my hands on and NOTHING works, including trying when I've upgraded to SP2. I have not tried SP1. I am installing on a VMWare virtual machine made of our standard build (WinXP Professional version 2002 with SP3) with Office 2003. I have uninstalled 2003 first, no luck. Upgraded, no luck.
Has anyone else run across this error or have any insight on how to get around the stupid expected version error?

We are deploying to 10,000+ workstations, complete uninstall / reinstall of MS Office (to fix the problem) is simply NOT an option.

Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards,

I'm having the same issue in the same type of environment. I have setup many VM's to narrow down this issue... as I had some machines that it would work on, and others it would not.

I've narrowed the issue down to Office 2003. Computers that had 2003 on them at any point seem to all give me this same error! Regardless of if it had been removed or not... all googling help pointed to removing all office versions, and doing a fresh install of office 2007... this did not work. I've tried removing every single 2003 folder/cache/temp/reg key I could find.
*not sure how old this post is... today is 5/17/2011. Please post back! I will check frequently!
