I sort of abandoned this question haha, but i wasn't actually making the game in winforms, i was making the game in unity, but it was a rhythm game, I made a separate program in winforms to attempt and make a sort of planner which timed events with music, in the end I just ended up using Vixen a program used for syncing Christmas lights to music, and exported the projects in a raw text format and parsed them in my game in unity.

I was just going to have it randomly select from a list of nodes of the same return type in each parent, would that be considered an incorrect implementation of the algorithm?

Well I don't have one specific use, I need to be able to analyze and even change PCM data from any audio endpoint device. I would also like to be able to detect and enumerate what drivers are available on the system, for example DirectSound or ASIO.

You might consider expanding your question to include what exactly you are trying to accomplish here. I have posted an answer which would cover some of the most common needs for such an operation, and if it answers your question, please consider accepting the solution.

Yes they were a bit vague, lua is usually my goto for these type of things as you can link lua functions to c# functions in your program and essentially program without compiling.

Well you see, I am developing a gaming engine, and the engine would be installed to one place in the computer to prevent the entire engine from being statically linked and downloaded with ever application that uses the engine. Rather, they would install the engine once, and every application that uses the engine would simply link to the pre-installed engine dll

Then how would you suggest I go about reading an entire text file?
Sicppy
17-Apr-14 19:20pm
View
First of all, I go back to the beginning after going to the end. Second of all, I told you, the reason I go to the end, is to get the overall file size, if you go to the last byte in a file and read back where you are you will get the file size.
Sicppy
17-Apr-14 19:07pm
View
No you haven't text files don't have meta, they're just an array of characters. Also, I'm not reading something at the end, I'm going to the end and then having it tell me where it is in the file so I know the size of the file, also, I've solved it myself, it actually gives me one less than the actual byte size for some reason.
Sicppy

Actually, the first fseek goes to the end byte, the ftell tells be where it is(giving me the size of the entire file) then I go back to the beginning, and use fgets to read the entirety of the file into a char*

I think you are missing the question, I do want to do it with a graphics object, but I want to display the image, the same way a PictureBox zoom mode does, try this, make a new form, put a picturebox in it, click the right facing arrow in the top right corner of the picture box, and click dock in parent container. then click the arrow again, click the drop down arrow, and hit zoom. then load any image into it, run the program and try re-sizing the form, thats the effect I want to create, but with the Graphics object.

I find that comment pretty rude and completely incorrect, the whole reason I am doing this is to learn. I am trying to ask you how I might go about representing an integer in bytes, I am not ignoring you nor disregarding you, I am simply asking for your advice, is that not obvious to you?
Sicppy

I'm not trying to be convinced, and I'm not asking you to convince me, I just want to know how I can get the biggest possible number into the smallest amount of bytes and be able to read it when it shows up on the other end
Sicppy

View
How would I represent a large number without taking up a large amount of bytes though?
Sicppy
16-Oct-13 23:10pm
View
ASCII is the best way to represent the number I think because each character only takes up one byte, and that code has since been changed slightely. And I am a bit of a beginner to working directly with bytes, but hey, I'm only 16, I have time to learn.
Sicppy
15-Oct-13 23:54pm

Look at my modified code and tell me what you think, the first 20 bytes are the size, which it reads immediately and converts to a string, and then an int. Then it loops through and checks if data is available and if there is it reads the data it loaded off into a memory stream, and it will keep doing this until the amount of bytes gathered is equivalent to the amount of bytes sent.

It just seemed like more work than really needed to be done. I achieved the same sort of result by reading the stream into memory in 1kb segments until the stream was empty, then I could simply read the length from the memory stream, thank you for the reply however.

By note analysis i meant i want to be able to identify the note(s) being played from a live input via the mic, the midi output does not need to be a DLL I just need something to get the job done.

I haven't got to try your response yet, i have been busy the past few months with some projects I've been working on, but by the looks of the comments it seems to have worked for some other people, I'll give it a shot and get back to you soon,
Thanks

Yes, it is a joke, and it's translating English to Stereotypical Russian, even if it's not translating from English to actual Russian, it's still a translator.
If you actually do know how to program in bash, I would like some help getting the program to work, so please run this code on your mac/linux distro and see if you can't get it to work.

First of all, it's not an actual translator, it's a stereotypical translator, meaning, instead of translating it to russian, it translates it to a russian stereotype or what americans see russian as. All this translator is supposed to do is take out all the vowels and spaces in a sentence. Second of all, that wasn't a sample phrase, that was just the question phrase, it's what pops up when the program first starts that tells you it wants input.

It's not an actual translator, it just removes all the vowels and spaces.

it was just an example, I have it set up the right way in my actual program. It sets a string. assign's it a value from within a try, but it says the variable isn't initialized when i try System.out.println(x);
from outside of the try block

I already tried that, but the changes only effect what is inside the try block. for example if I ran this code(just pretend that the syntax is right)
String x = hi;
try {
x = goodbye;
}
System.out.println(x);
The outcome would still be hi

$query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM testtb WHERE name=$name");
$array = mysql_fetch_array($query);
$rnd = $array['<name of="" column="" you="" want="" to="" pull="" value="" from="">'];
