It's easy, think a little bit more:
if (dataGridView1 [i, j].Value.ToString()==comboBox1.Text)
{
dataGridView1[i, j].Style.BackColor =Color.Yellow;
/* OR you can use to Highlight all the row : dataGridView1.Rows [j].DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.Yellow; */
}
Else dataGridView1[i, j].Style.BackColor =Color.White;//clears the selection

Welcome!
You can add before using the code :
If(dataGridView1 [i, j].Value!=null)
{
//here the previous code here
}
This exception is throw because there is some cells not containing a value, so you cannot parse a null value to .toString().
If the solution is done, put your question as solved :-) gdluck

but i'm trying to get more skills, or maybe learn something how it works in binaries ...
i also wish to know how to get the bytes[] of a function:
if i wrote a function in c#, how can i get it bytecode, also execute it. maybe similar to the Object byte conversion...
(how the computer or machine read it codes low level, not affected by C# language)
are these steps dangerous or not appreciated ?
is there any book or step to learn ? i didn't find a right book on the internet

by the way i asked a question before, but no one gave me a solution, if you have any idea:
i need a funtion that executes bytecode :
if i load byte[] b of an executable (byte[] b = File.ReadAllBytes(string path))
how can i execute the executable using the byte[] b
//i don't want to use Process.Start ...
//i need to execute an executable by a byte[] variable

Thank for help,
(my namespace is "Test",contains class "Client")
i have some trouble (Exceptions thrown), i did :
Client Cl = new Client("John");
byte[] b = ToByteArrayBetter(Cl);
when i used ToByteArrayBetter :
Type 'Test.Client' in Assembly 'Test, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is not marked as serializable.
even when i used ToByteArraySimple :
Type 'Test.Client' cannot be marshaled as an unmanaged structure; no meaningful size or offset can be computed.
how can i handle ?

let assume i added a little executable to my project resources as file (i removed extension .exe to hide it type)
* if i want to execute with output environnement :
(make it a file by writing it bytes in a filepath exemple "prog.exe"
using : byte [] b=global::namespace.properties.resources.prog; and system.io ...to make it.....etc...
finally calling system.diagnostics.process to start execution..
* if i want to execute the prog without this hole process, by only having the bytes byte[] as parameter, and start the execution on this set of bytes, without creating an associated file ... how can i ?
the o.s surely executes an executable by loading its bytes bytecode an run it, how to do that in c# ?
thanks.
