Are you asking how to know the data type of the cell? Header cell most of the times will have name of the column and it will be string only.

Have you tried using DateTimePicker Control available in winforms.

Have you gone through the documentation of Validation Application Block?

Is this an ASP.Net application or Winforms application?

Have you checked the logs or event viewer and check what the error is?

You can try using CLR Triggers.

I don't think you will be able to get the Automation Id of the scroll bar. The scroll bar might be or may not be visible sometimes.

I am assuming you might be using some model to bind the datagrid columns. In the model override the ToString() method and you can assign this to AutomationId property of each row.

what I am saying is, open the command prompt and execute the above command. upon executing a log file with all the verbose message will be generated.
For e.g. if the setup file name of your application is "MyApplication.msi" then you need to do like this
1. Windows key+R
2. Type cmd
3. Type msiexec.exe /i "MyApplication.msi" /l*v "outputlog.txt"

When the installation process is abrupted, open the above mentioned logfile in notepad or some text editor and go through each message. This can give you information about where and what is the error.

Also are you getting this error during the installation process or are you getting this error when you execute your application after the installation?

Please go through the MSDN link that I have shared. That link has the details of all the parameters that can be passed.

you can execute
msiexec /i "installer package name" /l*v "outputlogfile"

The above command will log all the verbose messages to a log file while the installation is in progress. It will help you in debugging what the issue is.

Are you using Visual Studio Setup and Deployment or WIX to create the setup?

What you can do is, after you open the solution and before debugging the code,
1. in Visual Studio go to Debug->Exceptions. This will open a window with all the exceptions
2. Uncheck all the exceptions and select System.ArgumentOutofRangeException under Common Language Runtime Exceptions-->System.

Now when you run the solution and where ever this exception occurs the code stops the execution and highlights the line and you can easily find where the exception is.

My bad. It is Int32.MinValue (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.int32.minvalue(VS.100).aspx).
I have updated this in the solution as well.

Initialize userType to Int.MinValue instead of 0, like
int userType = Int.MinValue;

So now when datareader doesn't return any rows your userType variable will have Int.MinValue and swtich statement will execute default case.

In this case you can create an installer (.msi) using Visual Studio setup and deployment project or WIX for your app. Using the setup you can create install your app binaries and create the database on the target machine.
During the installation if you want you can prompt the user to enter the server name and save it in registry. Your app can read this entry and use it to connect to the database.

so you are saying that you will move your code to one machine and the database will be in another machine. If yes, want to know if these two machines are connected through intranet?

I don't think you can block or modify the messages that OS is generating unless you are calling them through your code. In your case you have informed the OS that a particular app is blocked. Now when OS is starting this app, it recognizes that app is blocked and it is throwing an error.

In the convert function 103 style is the British/French date format which is dd/mm/yyyy. I am assuming the problem is with the date format you are applying. please check it once again.

PrincipalContext will internally communicate with ActiveDirectory server that your machine is connected to.

Yes LDAP communicates on that port.
In the second solution, what code snippet are you expecting. PrincipalContext class is available under System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement namespace of .Net framework. Once you pass your user name to this method, internally it will resolved and evaluated.

One more thing, on my x64 dev machine DoScan.exe is present in c:\program files(x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\DoScan.exe. See if this is the path on your server as well.

Go through the above link and pass your exe, parameters and check whether you are passing correct parameters or not and then you can modify the code accordingly.

I missed this comment. You can create an instance of dataset and populate the dsEmployee with the required data.

This means dsEmployee is null or dsEmployee does not contain a table tblTicketing.
If dsEmployee is null, create an instance of dataset and populate the dataset. There a bunch of samples available on how to populate the dataset.

Using the Process.Start method you should be able to call the executable.
If the executable file path is not added to the environment variable "PATH", then Process.Start may not be able to find this executable and will throw exception.
It is always better to pass the entire absolute filepath of the executable to the Process.Start method.

It is not suggested to install the SQL Server silently. As other memeber, end users should know what all pre-requisites are required to use the software.
Also the end user need to know license terms of SQL Server. So better not to do a silent installation.
