Yes, On each level you can bind grid on RowDataBound event. One more approch.. Instead of getting data for each child grid you can take entire dump in one go (including parent and child). then bind us by filtering datatable or linq whatever you use.

I didn't get your problem. But it seems that update progress is showing even when it is not required. So...
Every UpdateProress has one AssiciateUpdatePanelId. you can use this property to map your process to particular panel. Now when any control within that panel cause update only then progress will be shown.

I cant say what wrong there by looking our code. But it seems that you can simply call
Gv.HeaderRow.TableSection = TableRowSection.TableHeader;
after Bind() function in Page_Load handler instead of Gv_PreRender()

Both render to
in final html page. Both can have runat="server" property and will be accessible in .cs file. <asp.hyperlink> have some extended property that can serve different purpose. Now let me know what you want to do.. then only one can suggest which one to use.

onkeyup works in all browsers. If you are using same event for some other operation (other than move) you can add this function to same as per you logic.

Please elaborate what is your problem your code seems to be work. Only thing to check is
b = isNan(b) ? 0 : b;
Nan should be NaN with both capital 'N'

You can check by copy value from path variable and paste in run Command or windows explorer to check whether it pointing to correct file. alternatively you can try
Server.MapPath(path);
to get exact path in your solution
