is id also the ID of the DepartmentMaster object? If so, then the id should be available inside of dm. If not, do you have any input controls in the form that are passing the id value when the form is submitted? You could use a hidden control for this.

depends on what browser you're using, but it should be under options somewhere

If I remember correctly that is a browser setting, whether it opens in a tab or a new window will depend on how the users have their browser configured

have you stepped through the code with the debugger? It should tell you what the error is when you use the debugger. One thing you might try, though, is to set a variable using the Convert.ToInt32(id) and use that variable in the linq statement. I can't remember right off hand if linq knows how to handles the Convert.ToInt32 or not

I'm not sure how you're doing the ajax call but there is usually a way to specify a callback once the request is complete/successful. I'd put the hideloading at the end of that callback function.

when you have a gridview that uses paging the only data available in the gridview is current page's data. Any other page of the GridView is simply not available. You either need to store the value you want outside of the gridview or get it from the database or wherever the data is coming from

No, the code is trying to cast a control as a DropDownList, it's just not finding a DropDownList in the specified location. However even if it was able to cast into a DropDownList it would still get an error (in the else statement) because a DropDownList does not have a Text property.

if it can't cast it to a DropDownList it's because it's not finding a DropDownList where you're saying there should be one. Need to the gridview to help any more than that

How are you adding the javascript alert to the cancel button in the first place? If you're adding a javascript alert to the cancel but don't want it on the cancel then just don't add it.

I agree with Mark, if you're going to do something like this you might as well just go to the database and change all of the 0's to 1's there and save yourself time. Now if you wanted to do it with a mouse click instead of just a mouseover that would make more sense as it's at least a little less likely to happen by accident.

I can suggest you look into using SqlParameters. The way you're just injecting textbox values directly into your sql query is going to leave you wide open to sql injection attacks

You'll probably need to pull the cost for the AccountType during your postback event (SelectedIndexChanged event?).
rahkan

for testing purposes try just using the AccountType as both the DataTextField and DataValueField and see if the problem persists, well, that's if all of the AccountType items are unique, otherwise you'll probably get the same results

so no items in the list have the same cost? Have you tried running the select statement directly on the database to see what results you get back? Can you post those results?

attributes can be surrounded with either double or single quotes, but when you're embedding a server tag that includes a string that uses double quotes, like with Eval, then you need to make sure the attribute is defined with single quotes.
