Please define "accessible"... is it:
-Visible in Explorer
-Writeable (ie. not read-only)
-etc

Do you need to encode anything in the key, e.g. enable various features, or is it simply a pass/fail thing?
How is the key passed to you... will the key be entered in some UI by the user?

Simon: Not trying to be a jerk, but may I humbly suggest that you refrain from posting answers on subjects that you know nothing about? (Why on earth would you post an answer re: C++/CLI if you know nothing about it?) It's hard enough to get good info from knowledgable people (eg: SAK) without having to filter out the noise from know-nothings who post bad info.

Thanks for the answer! To keep moving while awaiting help, I coded it w/o the null check, but it felt strange. On your suggestion, I did try invoking w/o any handlers, and it didn't throw an exception, so I guess it's not needed :)
