For 10 control, I think that the perfomance is not very impact with this method. The loop must be in the page_load and in the test !IsPostBack. After if you page is "heavy", the best way is probably create different web page

Sandeep, it's true, thanks and you can test if "CTRL" is pressed. The correct test is:
if (e.ctrlKey && (e.keyCode == 118 || e.keyCode == 86))
MathewPV, because when keyup it is call, the textbox is normally already fill. If you want you can clear the textbox, (document.myform.Textbox1.value= "") or cut the text (document.myform.Textbox1.value= document.myform.Textbox1.value.substr(0, MAXLENGTH)

Try the read of this column with a small application, because I think that the data is truncated by the SQL server interface (this textbox display 32 000 character, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948456/en-us).

no, in a asp page. You add <asp:HiddenField id="myFlag" value="1" runat="server" /> and in your .cs, you can have if myFlag.value == "1". A another solution is add your flag in the viewstate (http://msdn.microsoft.com/fr-fr/library/system.web.ui.control.viewstate%28VS.80%29.aspx)
You lost the value because in ASP.NET variable is destroyed after the page has done running.
