That is not a satisfactory answer. I am receiving the exact same error and not only do I know that the file has a "Sheet1$" but I also had in working in development before deploying to the test server.

I am having the identical issue. Your solution does not address it. The property referenced is definitely a property of my model.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I am having a similar issue trying to see published web app on IISExpress on same computer. Based on your comments below I was able to get IISexpress running without using VS2012. However, while I am able to run non-published projects, I can't run published projects.
