Ahh, of course (Slaps palm against forehead), rather foolish of me...thnx. Then yes, you would need to examine the whole string, which as you pointed out, would be excessive processing. Cheers mate.

Hi Luc, thanks for the feedback, although I don't necessarily agree. My code is not affected by caret position; string s is local and only ever contains the key just pressed. So the textbox could, for example have a value of 300 changed into 3001, 1300 3010 and so on and so forth, but not 300r, r300, 30r0 (you get the point). Your point about cut and paste is valid though (for right click mouse, CTRL + v is still suppressed) nice catch.
