Yeah. Works for IE8...
I think I've tested a dozen solutions, and have not found one that is 100% cross browser... Well, my tests don't need to go very far: what works in FF (whatever the latest version is), does not work in IE7 && IE8. IE 6 would be a bonus at this point.
(I think even the asker was just meeting a wall for a solution not working in IE8, but intended for something to work in all modern, supported browsers..)
