Could you share the complete error and the version of nuget you are using with VS 2015 community? It looks like a compatibility issue.
I believe you should do more research on the internet.

Ofcourse it will give error if the username column is PK (primary key), the if clause will be true if the username exists in the database and you try to insert it again by writing insert in if.
Again, what are you trying to achieve?

Yes, it is possible to fetch data from db without using entity framework. Infact, before entity framework ADO.NET was used for the same purpose.
If you dont want to use ADO also, then check nHibernate. Check link below:
http://www.dotnetjalps.com/2013/09/asp-net-mvc-nhibernate-crud-getting-started.html
My question to you is, why not Entity Framework or ADO.NET?

Use try parse to convert string to decimal. It is possible that the input values are not decimals at all!.

Well, 10000 records in a drop-down is itself a fishy thing(I don't know how user friendly it is), however, as you said there is no issue on the server I take your word.
I have a question, Is this a Development workstation (with hosting server and client on it)?
If yes, would suggest you to check the vitals of your workstation. Like, how much RAM is in use, processor usage and disk usage when you open the webpage. May be, your workstation is not good enough to handle the load of server and client hosted on same machine.

The execution plan clearly shows that the joins are making the query slow.
Unless, you don't provide some clear information on what you are trying to achieve? it will be very difficult to solve the issue.
Also, provide some insight on the size of the data(no of rows, etc) in the participating tables(on which joins are applied).
May be, creating indexes on those tables will make the query run faster.
You can also try to run the query in pieces to see which join is stalling the query.

Do give you a brief idea... All you need to do is fetch the data from the database and add that data in the 9th(is the number of slides are static) container of the slide image. Basically, your 9th slide/container will be not just image but it will also contain data.

I believe, oddcast is playing with the tone of the voice to create different effects. However, I still believe they are far away from making there software "sing".

Build action property comes under visual studio .dbproj projects. Basically, it is used to specify if the sql file is to be considered for build or not.
Ignore that for now, if you are not using visual studio's database projects.
If you are using Visual studio projects then you need to omit the IF statement as it will not work there.
.dbproj uses a different strategy to achieve what you are trying to do using IF clause.

However, if you just want to change the numbers written on button, then you can set the bt.Text property on runtime by swapping it with the other button's number. By doing this you are not actually swapping the entire button but only the text written on it.

Peter has a good point! If you optimize your cache store then you will automatically get the desired performance out of your linq query.
Also, If you have a linq statement and its result is same most of the time and is not changing very frequently, then you can consider caching your linq result set. (Because it will not make any sense if you cache the result set and then it changes for every call and you end up rebuilding your cache)
Also, you need to decide a strategy, when you want to refresh your cache and what effect will this cache refresh have on already running stuff.
Also, keep in mind that linq evaluation is lazy. Unless you don't iterate the IEnumerable, it(linq) will not actully evaluate anyting.

What do you want to achieve in Linq using it? what do you want to cache? Linq result set?

you will not be able to find your html controls in default.aspx.cs.
The only way you can call your default.aspx.cs functions from default.aspx is by using javascript.
Follow the link in the solution. All you need to do is define a javascript function (say foo()) that calls default.aspx.cs function(server side code) and call this javascript function (foo()) on onclick event of your html button.
Your function call will go this way.
html--->foo()--->default.aspx.cs
Basically you are using javascript function as a proxy to call server side code.

Check the App Pool being used by you website, then check the Username on which that app pool is running.

I believe you added "Me.Second.Add(_selectedFirst.SecondActivity)" line in the auto generated file. I suggest not to do that because it will get erased when you regenerate your entities in future. Also, the intent to add this line is unclear.
Secondly, As you just have to populate your combo box. All you need to do is, get your ObjectResult of the stored procedure and iterate it for SecondActivity to fill a list. Finally bind that list.Distinct() to your combobox. To have a cascading effect, write your code to work on the ObjectResult and not inside the auto generated class.
Let me know if you face issues in this approach :)

Haha. Nice! and thanks for explaining things clearly:)
Even if you have that much RAM, I don't think the .NET framework will be able to use it efficiently. However, that is a different story.
I am trying to understand where are you getting the bottleneck. The code you gave should work fine as you are reading lines and not the entire file in one go.
However, I think you are not writing the files in line-by-line fashion, which will ultimatly create the dreaded bottleneck.
Correct me if I am understanding the issue wrong?
