thanks, i'll accept your solution because this is indeed part of the solution but not the exact one though. The problem is a bit complicated than a mere conversion of UTC to Local DateTime.

because the data that was saved was in ordinary time (GMT-5). Now the locale timezone of the user is in day light saving time (GMT-4). so when i use that to convert the time the result will be 1 hr diff.

so your saying you want to fetch all database table and you don't know how? if that is yes then try:

If that's the case i wonder why it worked.
i was thinking that maybe (i recently noticed), though it was configured to run under 2.0 framework however the latest framework installed in the server is 3.5.
because even using 2008 you still have option to code it in 2.0 right? by changing its configuration in the build properties. anywayz, this setup is very weird and the project is very big and very old. this is only a work around until revised of the entire project.

i can't add filter ispostback otherwise my gridview will become empty after postback because i am dynamically creating it.
once control is dynamically created, we need to recreate it after postback and use viewstate to restore the value.

Actually my problem is that i can't get the updated value of the dynamically created control.
if your control is dynamically created you need to recreate it upon postback. And to remember the value is to use viewstate however i can't seem to make it work.. huhuhuhu...

Hello Jagadeesh - you are doing it in DataRowBound?
And I would like to clarify if my understanding is correct to your question.
Question is more like: You have a gridview control which columns will be dynamically generated. However you are facing a challenge when you create a cell(s) that contains textbox inside it, the textbox value is empty?
if that's the case like manognya kota said you might need to change your databinding or perhaps need to check your datasource if the field has a value...

hope you don't mind if i'll write instructions coz i am only have a handful of time really sorry about that.
Assuming you already have a GridView and has a checkbox on it and a Save Function.
To do:
1. Add
Save Button
on the aspx
2. Add Save Button handler on aspx.cs if C#
3. In your Save Function
3.1 Get the common key of the records displayed on the grid
3.2 Using that common key delete all record in your table
3.2 You can either perform Loopings or Linq Filtering from server side to get the record marked as check and save to your database.
however that might not work, it depends on the business. because that one that i am thinking is that you probably selected let say a country and based on that country it displays all possible beautiful places with checkbox on the gridview. and their common key is the countryid "for instance". But i don't know if that is your business requirements :)

The idea of what i did is more of:
Extract data from XML => Store it to Entity Objects => Final saving to Database.

Business Requirements:
There is a separate website that manages all application. Lets name it as "One Website", then it manages 2 system the System A and System B. The one website will generate the dynamic fields depending on which system the user selected. These dynamically generated fields will be stored into XML file along with other related/unrelated information.
Now in order for the System A to processs the request triggered by the "one website" the System A needs to expose a web service (i am using restful approach here). One website will call the service of System A and pass on the XML.
Question:
What approach can you suggest in order to save the selected data from XML to my database tables?
What I did here:
Is that I have database tables and i have created an entity class that contains the db tables columns. Then crated a function to map the xml nodes to my entity objects.
I have posted my solution here: http://jephunnehrm.xanga.com/756318399/mapping-of-xml-node-to-entity-objects/
feel free to add suggestion for improvement...

Hello SA - the problem arise when mapping the xmlnode to the entities where the number of xml nodes are not constant. example: <MYPARENTNODE><MYCHILD><NAME>my name</NAME> <AGE>12</AGE> </MYCHILD><OTHERCHILD>... </OTHERCHILD>. . . </MYPARENTNODE>however there are cases that it has only one child node.. so the requirement is to mapped the nodes to the entity and i was thinking that maybe it would be less coding modification if i do it dynamically.

Hello Anuja,
I have tried it using the suggested solution. But the problem is that the double quote is not encoded.
Here's the sample output:
"Hello""World & me "
Are we seeing the same output?
Currently my approach for a workaround is that after i saved the file as xml using xmldocument, i reopen the file using filestream and replace the " with @quot; i know that's not how to address the issue.. huhuhuhu...
But i am currently stock and i am curious why double quote won't be encoded using xmldocument object.

Sorry about that dave.
All i remember is that there's only one requirement:
1. the user allows to select item from table (possible number of record is like 500 and up)
so i am curious about performance hits, because when using dropdown box other than not being able to search, it preloads all record during loading of page.
so i am thinking that maybe if i use autocomplete i will be able to address that issue. :(

md - do you wan't to save to your databae the http path of the image instead of your local drive?
if so then i guess you just have to use httpcontext.Current.Server.MapPath("~") and concatenate the image name..

I'm not sure if I understand your problem correctly but you are saying that
you want to generate random string character with a random character length from 1 to 50?
