so inside pointing there is a method called exampleMethod
int exampleMethod(){
return value;
}
value is just a instance field with a value passed in from the constructor
Pointing(int n){
value = n;
}

the error says Pointing::exampleMethod missing argument list use &Pointing::exampleMethod to create a pointer to member

my computer science told us we must use recursion or else it will not be counted and we cannot use loops to find the values either

the problem states we must use recursion, but i cant seem to get it to give the max output as it always returns the index at 0

okay lets say i have a txt file with the following input
name: joe
name: bill
name: jane
what im trying to do is start the read at char 7 if the line has "name" in it so for the first line it would begin at b and go to the end storing the name into the array then doing the same if the next line has "name" so when the program terminates i would have the following
joe
bill
jane

no this is a method from the code but um having trouble with reading a a certain character from a text i already have the part that puts it into the array .for example i tried doing
names[index]= in.charAt(6) to start reading after the word "name" and store it all in the array then continue doing that line by line

it cant be passed as a parameter though since the method takes no parameters

first method:
this method generates random characters between the specified character "fromChar" to specified character "toChar" inclusive. For example if we call add ('a', 'z'), it will create lowercase letters randomly and fill out the array of "charArray" with lowercase letters randomly.
second method:
this method returns an array of twenty-six int values, each of which stores the number of occurrence of each letter contained in the "charArray". For example the first element in the array stores the number of occurrences for letter 'a'.

Thanks for the answer but i was able to solve it by using the next(); as typing in nextline(); twice would occur in the if statements being skipped

the second part of the code is suppose to simulate 2 players playing a game of rock paper scissors but when it runs only lets you enter the second players choice and prints out all the if options
