Thank you for the answer, this is the way i did it. When i run the web service from a browser. The base class methods i am not able to see. When you override it with WebMethod(true) then it shows up. Thanks for taking the time anyway.

Thanks,
If that was the case i would pass record_from and record_to to the stored procedure. But perhaps there is a less expensive way of doing it? Let me check a bit.

Hello, The stop thread should be on the Main Form. There is an event in the main form that is called FormClosing. This stop thread should be called there. I will update the code

This will solve it, only make a thread background if it does not do any critical operation. vote of 5 from me Olivier

I agree, just wanted to point out that using while(true) would not be a good practice. But yes, The difference between a background thread and a foreground thread is pretty simple. When the last foreground thread of a process is stopped, then the process terminates. There could be zero, 1 or an infinite number of background threads and they have no vote in whether a process terminates or not. So when the last foreground thread stops, then all background threads are also stopped and the process is stopped.

This will not help, as the secondary thread will still be running. Except of course if you set it to be a background thread.

I Agree, and in the calling application you can store and encrypt it in the settings file.

Also, make sure that the column in the table is nvarchar or nchar just to make sure that some characters are not thrown away. I agree with your solution Henry

Hello,
If i understand you correctly, you need to insert an image (which is at a certain path that you have) to a column in some table, is this correct?
What database back-end are you using? (Sql Server, MySql)
Regards
Terence

Olivier, You need to have some kind of wait, or thread syncing to take the load of your processor. And it might be more than a 100 seconds if windows have to reclaim memory and resources because your application is using too much. Maybe then end-user PC is not meant to run only your application. I do agree that you will lose some processing time.
