Occasionally, the lights turn off because there has been no apparent movement in the office. D'oh, just the fingers move over the keyboard. They have to start waving, almost dance, to get the lights turn on again . It looks quite funny, as if people are drowning and signaling for help! When I play FPS though, with the mouse... painful again. My whole hand goes cold and my wrists and fingers ache. The original layout was for typewriters (those mechanic ones), which had to make a compromise beetween fast typing, and not jamming the arms that hold the letters - so you actually had to be slowed down... There are two other computers on the network here at home, and one is all dvorak and the other one has an icon to switch to it. If you work on a number of different computers, it makes things a lot difficult. Requires more patience. In addition to taking regular breaks, At home, I use a right handed mouse (I'm mainly right handed for most activities). At work, I use a left handed mouse (with the buttons switched too). Benefits: 1) Creates variation and therefore reduces the risk of RSI 2) Annoys the hell out of anyone who want's to use my computer By the way, does anyone use wrist rests for keyboard or mouse? I think thay could be more harmful since they compress the area of the wrist that they are 'designed' to protect. I had a boss once that had a graphic arts degree and he told me that he was taught to use his left hand for drawing with the mouse since the right-side of the brain controls both artistry and your left hand.
