As covariance and contravariance have both made it into C++, with its zero-overhead abstraction policy, I'd be shocked if we saw it hitting performance, but I do take your point, measure first.

I've been made to look like an idiot before, after making assumptions about this kind if thing (and since it's one of the things I always push for, I mean made to look like a Big idiot!)
Performance tests can be a bit of a pain, but it's one of the things that really matter to the people who are indirectly paying our salaries.

They're so tight-lipped that there was nothing in news reports or on animal- and plant-disease networks, and there were no official proclamations?
If the AI is just repeating what they're saying, they've already said it.
Or if the company is saying that it managed to shout out about it before there was an official proclamation, that's because people who make official proclamations have to take it seriously, and get facts checked thoroughly, before risking unnecessary panic.
This is right down there amongst the worst marketing bull ever. The world really needs a loud-mouthed AI shouting out scare stories based on unconfirmed data.

That entire article is based on a false premise. The malware was delivered through a WhatsApp message that didn't need to be opened, due to an exploit for WhatsApp, so the fault was with WhatsApp rather than Bezos. Of course, it could be argued that installing messaging services like WhatsApp on a phone was the mistake, but that didn't seem to be the point of the article.

Google announced that it was going to start charging law enforcement authorities for legal data disclosure requests, such as subpoenas and search warrants, related to its users. I guess they're always on the lookout for a nice profitable revenue stream
