When fb first started, I of course created an account (I'm willing to sell my myspace account, BTW), and among the first things I realised was that the "friend" thing would not only lead to ridiculous amounts of unwanted e-mail, but that it would also be used as a tool to infringe the privacy of all Internet users, by association, and, in extreme cases, could be used as a mob-mind control tool.
That these self-evident (read: "f***ing obvious!") facts were not arrived at by everyone is very much to our shame.
Bring on the AI singularity, because there's precious little intelligence anywhere else on Earth.

I would claim that my jaw dropped when I saw it mention that concentrating on requiremens was secondary to getting something out of the door - but nothing really surprises me nowadays.

and I think the only reason a much larger share of hiring managers and their HR drones aren't complaining about the problem is that they get an applicant who is willing to tell whatever lies they need to to get past the automated screening checks impossible requirements.
