How and in which page_event is your button added? (If the button is added in PreRender page_event, you'll not be able to catch the event)

Does anybody guess why Microsoft releases new versions of Visual Studio (like VS2003, VS2005)? Why not create updates to the existing release?
Or in other words, Java also does update the technology but does not call for revolutionery changes. Then why VS does it?
(Or tell me if I am wrong)

Thought about other reasons, but they all seem to settle down on $$$.

I think you are comparing an IDE (Visual Studio) with a platform (Java). If you compare .Net platform and Java, the changes are not that revolutionary over version 1 and 2 of .Net.
Thinking about IDE changes, the move from VS 6 to VS 2003 was a revolution. When Microsoft moved to .Net platform, that itself was a major move. That move did include massive changes in Visual Studio. It was a steep learning curve.
But once you are over the hump of learning a new language (C#) or a new flavor of an old language (VB.Net), and stop missing good old C++, the differences between 2003 and 2005 are not that devastating.
Can't disagree with other posters about $$$.

Okey! If money is the major matter then ... can't comment!

I think I need to update myself before commenting on this!
Anyways thanx to all.

Managed Code :
When you compile your Visual Studio.NET source code, the compiler gives out MSIL (Microsoft Intermediate Language). MSIL code converts into native code at runtime by a Just In Time (JIT) Compiler. MSIL code should supply all the metadata necessary for the Common Language runtime (CLR) to provide services such as Garbage Collection, Memory Management, Cross-Language Integration, Code Access Security etc. All code that is based on MSIL executes as Managed Code.
Unmanaged code is the one that was created without taking the requirements of the CLR into account. This code executes in the runtime environment with minimal services from runtime. For example, the above COM object that we created using VB 6 executes as unmanaged code.

Please tell me why I received errors when doing this:
class MyClass : DataTable
{
public MyClass():base()
{
DataTable dt = new DataTable();
this = dt;// errors occur here, what can I do to let dt to "this"
}
}
Thank you for your help.

What are you trying to do? When inheriting from DataTable then this is already a new empty DataTable. You could right there start adding data:
class MyClass : DataTable
{
public MyClass():base()
{
this.Columns.Add(...);
this.Rows.Add(...);
}
}

This question is not really about the DataTable class. The this reference is always read-only, regardless of where it is being used.

Is there a way to create an executable using the .Net 1.1 version of the framework with Visual Studio 2005? I want to create a bootable CD for Windows PE that uses a C# program as the front end menu system. Windows PE can add on .NET 1.1, but no information exists on using .NET 2.0 on Windows PE.
Thanks,
Steve B.

Strictly speaking it can't be done; but I know of a hack that seems to do it. If you are using specific 2.0 libraries forgot it.
Heres the link anyway

Is there a way I can disable a button (DataGridViewButtonCell) on a DataGridView?
Currently, I am setting the cell's readonly property to true and trapping the CellContentClick event and doing nothing if it is readonly.

Operating systems have a concept called the "executable." An executable file is essentially a program that can run in the operating system. The standard convention in windows is to mark an executable file with the .exe extension.

Check out the System.Reflection.Assembly class.

So I have run into a serious problem that did not exist when I left work last week. I have items that are dissappearing from a collection as I iterate through it. I have a class called host which has a List<String> in it which has a list of Urls. There is only one way to get and remove urls, a property called NextUrl.
<br />
public string NextUrl<br />
{<br />
get<br />
{<br />
string url;<br />
lock (_urls)<br />
{<br />
url = _urls[0];<br />
_urls.RemoveAt(0);<br />
_lastTouched = DateTime.Now; <br />
}<br />
return url;<br />
}<br />
}
The loop is as follows
<br />
foreach (Host h in currentList)<br />
{<br />
if (h.Count > 0)<br />
{<br />
DownloadUrlAsync(h.NextUrl);<br />
}<br />
} <br />
currentList is a contains a List of hosts.
If I step though the code at both the if statement, the { and DownloadAsynucUrl items dissapear from the collection. I am not sure how this happens. By the time it gets to the NextUrl property there are no Urls left in the collection. When the program first hits the if statement there are 6. Has anyone seen anything like this? Am I crazy?
Thanks,
Steve
