First, a thanks for reading this and another if you decide to reply.
I basically am going to start a project that will take in a user-entered text in a text box and create from that an image for display on a LCD panel (pixel formatting)
Looking through VB specs, I come across the Graphics.DrawString method which "Draws the specified text string at the specified location with the specified Brush and Font objects" and will most likely employ CreateGraphics to put it up on screen for display preview. The formatting into the Pixel format will be done after confirmation and the end result is a string of bits to be sent to the LCD panel.
My question is to you, my great and intellegient friends, is : Am I approaching this in the best way or will I encounter some difficult problems and I should consider another approach now before I get too deeply entrenched in my path.
I wish to ask of all of your experience in this. I will try to answer any questions to my situation as afast as I can.

If you want to preivew the image on screen, then yes, you have to use DrawString to render the string to an Image (Bitmap) object so you can show it.

Hi
our company has a web system, i try to create a window form application and using two refreence(mshtml,SHdocVw), that purpose makes shell IE auto login web system. So far, i can use IE automation to login system , but i got a problem , when i login to system successfully , that IE window will popout alert(javascript alert), how to use IE auto click the alert message.

Hi
I am working with iTunes library. I am supposed to implement it into a class library.
The problem is that to respond to events associated to iTunesApp I had to disable CheckForIllegalCrossThreadCalls but however in class library, this property isnt supported. Now, I am stuck in between and not able to figure out the solution.
Please help me that how to enable Cross thread operations or how to call the event safely without compromising cross thread restriction.
I would be very thankful for your kind response.

Why are you cross posting about cross threading ?
Actually, you don't need to disable that, although that's the easy solution. You need to fix your code so it doesn't make the illegal calls across threads.

Again thanks for the reply.
But dear it is not upto me to stop this behaviour of cross threading. As I mentioned that I am working with iTunes library. So when I try to grab an event of e.g. PlayEvent on windows forms then it cannot run anything until I disable the Check for illegal cross threading calls.
I hope that I am much clearer now so that you can help me out for this.
By the way cross posting is just that some dont come on VB.NET boards and some dont come on C# board and I am in hurry to get it fixed. I hope you dont mind it now.

I actually needed it in class library which will be basically hosted as a BHO to IE. Moreover, I have solved the problem and mentioning that here so may be useful for any other person.
SongName = "Artist: " + myTrack.Artist & " - Name: " + myTrack.Name
Dim myThread As New Thread(ChangeText)
myThread.Start()
SongName is defined on class level and ChangeText procedure do the work needed with SongName
Now the other question needs attention which is about invoking javascript function if someone can do help.

Ho to reading txt file line by line and store all lines in array.
After all line are stored in array, loop in this array line by line for next use...
You must know:
1- the dimension of text file is 163.457 MB
2- all line have max 132 lenght string
3 - into file is possible to have a blank line from one line to next line
I hope and think is the best way to import this BIG file...
I have count the lines are approx 3.364.120 lines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need a little more clarification. What is the requirement for having all of the lines stored in an array? What are you trying to do with all of the lines once they've been read in?

ok...
i want to get a part of single line with MID,LEFT,RIGHT ecc and store the piece of line in a var.
About array mode, is simple one suggestion.. in Google i have seen with FSO is a good way to speed the reading or not?

I, like Paul, still wonder why you need all the lines in an array?
Do you really need all the lines in memory at once?

I am still waiting for a real answer to that question I asked him. His requirements still make little sense other than picking off pieces of the text, but why everything all at once?

More along the lines of what is the purpose of reading the entire file into memory at once.

No!
File.ReadAllLines will read the file and give you the huge array you are looking for;
however generating such a huge array will be detrimental to the performance of your app, no matter how you do it.
If a single pass through the file is all you need, have a look at streams. If you only need a fraction of the file's content, read it line by line, don't store all the lines, simply store the pieces you need (use StreamReader.ReadLine)

When you say "import", what *exactly* are you implying. Are we talking just getting the data from the file into your app to use variables/collections of some kind. Then I would agree with the above, that using a streamreader and reading line by line would be the best bet.
OR, if your goal is to get this data into a DB like SQL? If this is the case, I would scrap what you're doing an look into DTS/SSIS since both give you programmatic control of the data coming in and format/manipulate as needed. Speed wise, there's not even a comparison.

GetPointOfView is an integer but reports in degrees.
example
up returns 0
right returns 9000
down returns 18000
left returns 27000
sound simple enough, but as we know it will not give value over 32767. In this case it is max out at 31500. so i am losing degrees 31501 to 3599.
I do not seem to be able to change the GetPointOfView to anything other then an integer. Anyone noticed this before?

That's odd. I've never really worked with DirectX and MSDN didn't seem to say much about that  Wondered if degrees 31501-35999 would be represented as negative integers but MSDN says -1 represents being centered...

I answered my question.
I did not notice but it is reporting back in 45 degrees. I was only interested in 270 to 360 degrees.

I have created vb application using crystal report 9 when i build the exe. it run well my machine but not running another machine without crytal report9.
When click report button through this error
"Runitime error '429'; ActiveX componenet can't create object"
kindly provide solution
