peterchen's desperate plea for No More Cricket gave me an idea. Probably not a new one though.
How about a keyword filter for the CP forums? You could enter in a keyword, e.g. cricket, and then any posts which contain that keyword would not appear for your. Or appear dimmed out.
That way when the soccer world cup comes around then I can put soccer in and when the Superbawl comes around we can enter that in.
VB haters could put VB in.

CP could do it on the client side using JavaScript, no change to SQL or ASP bits.

I just changed my email address in my settings, logged out and logged back in. Since there is another Rohit Sinha on this site, member number 234913 (I myself am member number 30836), I had to insert an between "Rohit" and "Sinha" in order to make it work. I had brought this up in this message[^].
I had to change my email address because I have not been receiving the newsletter for months now, and I suspect that it has something to do with my ISP.
But now I noticed that all my messages have a grey head icon next to my name, instead of the regular user icon. 
What's going on?
Could you please look into this? Thanks.

Yeah, I saw that too. But I'm not worried about the post count. But I want to see myself being acknowledged by the scripts.

Ah, so THIS is it.
First the evil forces managed to mess up with my ISP, so I stopped receiving the newsletter. This was done probably to lower my morale. 
Then they created another Rohit Sinha to create confusion in the minds of not-so discerning readers of the posts I make. And also to stop me from changing my settings.
And now this.
But I will carry on, let me assure you, toiling in the sun and snow alike, facing the wraths of the evil conspirators.
Cricket will win, even if I don't.
If I die, please spread my ashes over the Cape Town stadium.

Just to tell you a bit more about the problem, I seem to be logged in for all purposes other than posting messages. I can see my name dissolved in the orange sidebar, my sig is there, I can vote only once. BTW, I voted for my own messages in my personal board which you have provided (thank you), and I was able to (of course I voted 5 for all of them  )! Though I could not vote a second time, showing CP indeed knows it was me who was voting.
But only for the messages, this problem surfaces. I don't know what it is. A long while back you told someone that if someone is logged in, but changed his/her display name on the posting page, it appears as grey. Could it have something to do with this?
Or is it because I changed my email address? Maybe the cookie is getting confused? I'll delete the cookie and report again.

Whoa! I think I found it.
Though I have put an between Rohit and Sinha in my settings to make it work because of the other Rohit Sinha on CP, in the posting page it appears as just a space in the "Your Name:" text box. I changed that space to again and now I can see the normal user's head icon next to my name.
So it was that changing the name thing while posting indeed.
Could you change the scripts to accomodate this, please? I mean don't convert the to a space here, but let the browser do it?

Quite right, I understand that. All I'm asking now is to do something about:
1. preventing new users from registering under names which are already present, using the same code that checks for duplication in the settings page
2. the duplicate users already present, taking into consideration that Michael Martin and me and many others have been members since much before the newcomers
3. allow me to use my own frigging name!
And now considering I got in all this mess just so I could start receiving the newsletter again, the best thing would be that I don't get it at this address either. Yeah, that'll be THE thing. Keeping HTML in your display name is a crime and I should be punished for it.
The problem is that I don't always get the textbox to be able to change the space in my name between Rohit and Sinha to .
