Now that there is work going on on icons (and colors), why not consider making all existing icons more 3D-ish (Vista / Windows 7 / Mac) style.
Some new fancy icons could be nice and would bring about a change for those who visit this side frequently.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

+1 now it became difficult to see up-voted messages unless you stare hard at screen. I don't understand whats wrong with those attractive Red and Grey colors.

Well there goes a great joke ruined.
I was just about to post a big treatise on how positive thinking promotes creativity and goodwill towards others, how red is typically associated with aggression (and appetite - notice how all the fast food joints are red?) and that in these stress filled times, and considering the amount of angst that has gone on in Lounge over the last week, a more positive outlook was needed, hence the change from angy red to positive, Go! green.
But no. The joke has passed.
The real reason is that way, way back, I was using red to highlight "hot threads". It was all very hip and '90's. However, for the past hundred years or so we've been using red to denote popular and up-voted items, not "hot" threads (in the sense of "lots of action" instead of just popular). We also use green to denote good answer and red to denote bad answer so it was blatantly inconsistent.
On a different topic I removed the joke icon and instead opted to include the rant icon because I figured on a bugs and suggestions forum people were more likely to yell at me than crack jokes. The fact that I've seen no rants other than "bring back the joke icon!" is telling

Imho, using a different color to signify a highly rated post is not the best way to go. While red made it difficult to differentiate between a read (no pun intended) post and a highly rated post, green on a light tan background is pretty hard on the eyes.
Usability studies have indicated beyond the shadow of a doubt that humans identify icons much more easily than colors. I urge you to instead use a different icon (e.g. one with a small star overlay) to identify highly-rated posts.

I'm actually deliberating going subtle. There's a place for bells and whistles and icons, and there's a place for a subtle indicator to give a little more info for those who care without being critical to site operation.
I have tested this with a Deuteranope, Tritan and Protanope simulator and the green highlight had a decent contrast. The top (green) menu is the issue - but that's a different issue.

What does the 'Mew' & 'Sigma' means/signify in the votes panel in Q&A. When I take my mouse over stars, we see bars and below some value related to 'Mew' & 'Sigma'... was new to me... seeing it from two days now. Anyone?

I'd say it it is the mean (µ) and sigma is the standard deviation[^], but I also may be wrong and the hamsters are trying to tell us something completely different!
