After getting My Settings working for me again (see my post below), I would love to have the following posting options default based on additional settings in My Settings:
o Ignore HTML tags in this message (good for code snippets)
o Auto-encode HTML when pasting?
o Notify me by e-mail if someone answers this message

Is there any way to post messages/replies with small HTML code snippets embedded so that the HTML would be displayed like in a web page? They keyword here being SMALL.

You already can.
However, certain HTML tags are filtered out because they can cause problems.

Fine so far; then it continues in French ("Comment sécuriser vos applications .NET ?"),
and I stopped reading.
The European continent may be a bit complex for outsiders, we have more than 20 countries
over here, and more than 20 languages; some countries mainly use a single language
(Germany, France, UK, Italy), a lot of countries use several languages and their
inhabitants do not always like to be addressed in the "wrong language".
I don't mind reading, writing or speaking French when that seems appropriate, e.g.
in personal contacts; from a commercial company that wants to sell stuff in Belgium
(and some other European countries) I expect the courtesy of being addressed in the
right language or a neutral language (that would be English here); they should be aware
most inhabitants are sensitive about linguistic issues, so offering in the wrong language
would generate a bad impression, and no business whatsoever.

I think I've heard mention something about there being more than one country in Europe. I should Google it... :P
The problem isn't the language the problem is the targeting of the email. We try and send emails that are in specific languages only to members who are actually in that country but the only way we can do that is using a geotargeting service based on IP address. Unfortunately IP address blocks change constantly so this targeting is only about 95-98% correct.

really?? I would not expect a mail system to care about IP addresses. And I would not
really base a language choice on a geoprahical location either.
But anyhow, you can send me the Dutch version, and I'll give it my full attention.
However if that is not available (as I suspect), I suggest you don't go and hide behind
technical issues, and stop treating Belgium as speaking French only.
You could add a field to the user's profile asking for an ordered list of acceptable
languages. Then people could fill in "English", "Dutch English", "French English",
or whatever they choose, and you could use the first available language. And for most
countries, I would suggest treating an empty field as "English" and nothing else.

I'm not hiding behind technical issues: I'm merely stating what we do and we thought this was inoffensive but you've clearly pointed out the error of our ways.

Hi Chris,
I don't mind you send French e-mails to French speaking people in France, in Belgium,
where ever you like. Dito for Spanish, Italian, German, etc. I do not suggest you narrow
everything down to English, some will see that as Anglo-Imperialism; and not all your
sponsors may agree with it either.
I do suggest you take cultural differences into account and let people opt-in for the
language choices. Having the site based on ASP.NET should make that easy...

Well, good luck for Belgium then 
For example, both Luc and I come from Belgium but he speaks dutch and I speak french. There are 3 official languages in Belgium (ok, very few people speak german, so chances to have a german speaking belgian on CP is very low).
Same for Switzerland, they also have several languages.

Have been unable to alter some of the items on the 'My Settings' page. In particular I wanted to change my signature but the change does not appear to stick. I have made the change, saved and then navigated away and back again and the data appears to have reverted. I also made the change, saved, signed out, cleared the cache and re-entered with the same result.

I have something similar - when I try to change options, I get an error about how my username is already in use!

Reading and navigating in forums very quick however when I post a *new* message there is what feels like a 15-30 second delay before the post is complete and the page reloads showing my post. Updating an existing message as I'm doing right now takes the more normal 2-5 seconds.

Yikes! The delay has increased substantially...do the opposite of what you just did. 
Whoops! I take that back, this post only took 10 seconds, but the one in the lounge just took 30. Maybe different message boards are taking different amounts of time, indexes sounds about right, the lounge is pretty "heavy" I'm sure.
