Anyway, I'm mulling over creating some WAP-enabled surfing on my site. I haven't really done much beyond think about it, to be honest. Has anyone created WAP content before? Is it a big can o'worms I'd be opening? Or essentially a matter of creating a couple web pages on a server that can handle the protocol?

I think you will find it to be easy enough. There are some things to consider first. Remember that the user must download the content to their phone so you want to be sure that you are not giving them a huge mess of info that will take 2 minutes to load.. lol

But seriously with the newer browsers and screens there is a lot that you can do.

now this is a REAL BIG problem
i'm using window XP (hope this is not the reason)
i cant create a file in my computer but it works on my school server

Might not be the problem but its a common mistake to forget to set permissions..

Are you sure that you have permission to create a file?

To be honest, It should come up with an error, not crash...

Hope you sort yourself out...

I want to add a Hit Counter component to my web site ,I can add and use it when it is located in my IIS but when I upload it, it does not work,in the tag of this component ,there is a path to my file: F:\wwwroot\.....\filefolder,I can't change this value because front page does not save it and change it to its default value each time I click save,I think I have to change it to something like www.mysite.com.Anybody know how can I use this component?

I know it is possible to print in javascript by using "window.print();" what I would like to know is, is it possible to open the print dialog and automatically set it to a certain setting.
what I'm trying to do is open the print dialog set to landscape - since the page looks better that way, but I would like the user to not have to select landscape (since I cant expect them to know that it looks better that way).

if anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Don't use javascript for this, but CSS.
You're probably not allowed to do what you want to do from javascript for security reasons.
There is however a very nice solution with Cascading Style Sheets. With the media attribute you can target it for a specific device (screen/print/aural/braille/etc).

Security point:
I think that it's very dangerous when some javascript can control the browser. If the browser allowed a script to change some options on print dialog, why shouldn't that be also used to change (for example) your browser settings, like your security settings. Therefor I'm quite sure that what you want to do won't be allowed by the browser.

So that basically rules out the javascript approach.
With HTML you define the structure and the text within that of a webpage. The formatting should be done with Cascading Style Sheets. If you don't know how to write a CSS file and link it to your webpage, then take a look at W3Schools or something like that. The official specifications can (of course) be found at www.w3.org/Style/CSS.

As you've noticed a webpage on your screen doesn't always look good when it's printed. Therefor you can create different stylesheets for different media. You indicate through the media attribute of the link-element to what media the stylesheet should be applied. If you don't specify the media attribute, the default value of 'all' is used.
By using media="print" for a stylesheet you tell the browser to only use that stylesheet for printing.
There's a section of the CSS Level 2 specification which handles that aspect and it's called paged media.

You might want to take a look at
section 13.2.2 Page size: the 'size' property, because there you'll find your answer.
Example of landscape setting:
