I'm pretty sure the lack of females in CS has nothing to do with flyers or brochures, etc.
Just saying...
With that said, this is starting to change here in the States with more younger females getting into STEM/CS/IT/etc. than ever before.

Seems to me like you have a lot more in you[^] than worrying about color schemes 
I wish there were more women in IT, would be a nice change from all the testosterone.
I'm afraid we'll need a significant cultural shift before that happens though...

Interesting, never looked at it that way.
There may be more than that though.
A LOT more women are in healthcare and education than men, neither are a job that strives for "perfection".
In fact, since programming is based on actual logic rather than social rules, I'd figure it's easier to write "perfect" software than it is to do "perfect" healthcare or education.
To me, you'll also need more bravery to tend to people than you need to tend for code.
Code doesn't judge you, scold you, or sue you.
And if you mess up no one dies, probably.
So why are women choosing these professions rather than IT?
I think it has to do with stereotypes.
Women just aren't supposed to do math, science or IT.
They're supposed to take care of the household and the children, hence their career choice involving people, especially children, and care.
Perhaps this even goes as far that men are supposed to earn more money than women (and I guess there are plenty of men who are turned off, or afraid?, of women who make more money than them) so women get lower paying jobs.
And this goes both ways, just like there's a "taboo" on women in IT there's a "taboo" on men in healthcare (male nurses are probably gay and male babysitters are, well, much worse off).
And now we're at a point that when women actually choose IT they get stuck in a classroom where they're the only woman, which can be pretty discomforting.
I think we need to break the stereotypes to see any real change.
Perhaps women need more courage to do so, but it's the problem of society as a whole.

In my company it's even 50/50. There are two of us and yes, she is in charge of color schemes and design. I have no problem admitting that she has a better sense of style than I do. CSS is magical!

Yes. It's a kettle. Bit more, so much more. You can turn it on remotely, and monitor how boiled it is. So you can make tea at home while you are in the office!
Well ... no. You can't. You can boil the water, but you have to actually walk to the kitchen and pour the water into something and stand around like a nana trying to find an app that tells you when your tea / coffee is brewed.
So what exactly do you save for your £130? Sod all that I can see ...

It took me long enough to teach the cat "Sit!"
And Herself doesn't let him out at night: he has to timeshare his territory with his worst enemy (Cookie from next door), so he gets the morning shift, and she gets the afternoon. That way we all avoid vet bills ...

Aha, this proves that my decision to revert from a smartphone(*) ( which I had for maybe 3 months ) back to a folding model "old people" phone, yes: with big buttons, was the smart thing to do. I don't need to bother with all this smartphone mumbo jumbo because my perfectly capable "granddad" mobile phone can't deal with it. Hooray for that!
(*) I dumped it because the stupid device, which was running android 6, could not perform its wake up function with any more accuracy better than 0...+5 minutes with respect to the set time. For crying out loud; if you can't do that these days why do you even bother putting the damn thing on the market.
Sometimes I like being an old fart as once in a while it does make perfect sense.

But, it is high tech and expensive therefore it must be better than an ordinary kettle. Or so folk with more money than sense will think.

I also enjoy waking up - it's way better than the alternative - but the kettle isn't the first thing that crosses my mind. Maybe about fifth or so, as part of the "I NEED CAFFEINE" phase of my morning rituals.

My kettle can often lie around unused for several weeks at a time as I gave up the caffeine many years ago. I'm just wondering though, if I did get an iKettle, whether I would gleefully wake up every day and turn the thing on with my 'phone just for the sheer thrill of it.

It is privatized now (space travel that is), which also means that everyone and their grandma is going to try to make money off this somehow, some way, especially when we start sending people up consistently.
