One Norwegian soccer player, Frank Strandli, played for Leeds in 1993-94. When he returned home, was very excited about that great British beer, "I think they called it 'pint'".
Needless to say, he will be remembered forever for that statement.

You're getting boring. Just like Donald Trump or schoolyard kids, you're going for cheap provokation instead of reasoning with facts. I'm 32, not 12.

Exactly why we have things like datetime data types. Represent the data in a binary format which can't be misinterpreted. Then, the display side can do whatever they want with it.
Alternatively, if you insist on text, you could spell out the month in character so there's no misinterpreting which section is month.

I regret to inform you the EU has already mandated metric months - so it will no longer recognize those with numeric values exceeding ten. Goods from outside the EU, with processing or expiration dates in months no longer recognized will be banned importation.
What can one say? It's just the way they are.

I am pretty sure there was a chrome update.
And the title bar is now of an unusable darker grey! #ChromeBroken!

It seems to be working for me: "Version 67.0.3396.79 (Official Build) (64-bit)" is reported as "up to date".
I see no problems so far - what are you getting?

The focused window, unfocused part of the title bar is now #C9C9C9, it used to be clearer me think, like #E9E9E9.
Title bar feels so cold and sad now...

I must admit I didn't notice it until you mentioned it, but now I think you're right. I think it used to respect the windows default colour (#FFFFFF on my machine).

Don't know about Chrome itself, but I can no longer access Instagram in Chrome, and my IG Story plugin crashes (the only reason I have Chrome installed at all BTW)

I agree, it looked quite odd when the change first happened. But I am sort of getting used to it.

I've been thinking th e scroll bars are thinner and more difficult to get to with mouse. Kind of fade in out. ANnything? Anyone?
I don't like it. 1803 update gave fading out scroll bars maybe part of that.

It's the default windows scrollbar for me (latest version of Chrome, but Windows 10 v1703).

Thanks. I think the issue I'm seeing is only when I'm on the Google Drive site -- the scrollbars go kinda nuts over there now. They must've changed something in Google Drive.

1803 (finally) introduced an on/off switch to turn off the automatic hiding of scrollbars; I keep mine always visible, as had been the case since, y'know, scrollbars were introduced in Windows. Maybe that'll help?

Yeah, I found that switch to turn them on always too. I really don't like the idea of them disappearing like that.
I think the issue I was seeing was only in Chrome when in Google Drive and the scrollbars go a bit nuts on that site now.

For context, my current pet project is a modern implementation of the IRCv3 client protocol. It offers three layers to use depending on what you're looking for: directly to the IRC socket (raw messages), a broadcaster (contextual messages), or a "framework" of sorts that obscures details into easy-to-use interfaces like Server , LocalUser , Channel , etc.
Anyway, I've realized my broadcaster folder is becoming irritating and slow to navigate. Between the "everything in one file"-type and the "one class per file"-type I very much lean towards the latter. However with roughly 200 distinct messages in the base protocol alone (not to mention CTCP, DCC, XDCC, SASL, etc) the one-class-per-file method is becoming ornery at best.
After some thinking, I decided this would be a nice solution that would allow easy navigation since everything related to a message is contained in a single file:
public interface IWelcomeReply : IReply { }
public partial class IrcBroadcaster
{
public event EventHandler<IWelcomeReply> WelcomeEvent;
private partial SetupWelcomeMessage()
{
_commandMap.Add(
MessageCommands.RPL_WELCOME,
msg => WelcomeEvent?.Invoke(this, new Reply(msg))
);
}
}
Before you'd have to sift through a minimum of 3 files among what would be over 600 to check/change something and the IrcBroadcaster class was a monster. This feels easier to navigate but I was wondering what your thoughts were? And if you've run into a similar situation what was your solution?

Providing a simpler yet type safe way of handling messages from internet protocols is why I wrote the code in this article: C# Replacing switch(enum) flow control with Reflection[^]. Don't know if it will suit your goals but it worked for me while experimenting with client/server app development. Certain others didn't see the merit in it but everybody has their opinions.

For my code-base I'd been considering something like this to simplify the mapping code. I liked the article. It's a nice technique for niche situations like this. I'll be running the reflection in the static constructor instead of instance though since the mappings won't change during run-time.

Jon McKee wrote: I'll be running the reflection in the static constructor instead That's how my original code was written. You can approach initializing your method maps in either way.
