Oh Noble Knight, great has been thy Quest, great the obstacles placed in your path by the gods and men that you, Our hero, have overcome with strength and valor, great the treasure you have returned with.
Wondrous, indeed, the stories you have regaled Our feasting-hall with of the strange Lands you have traveled, of the nether beings neither male nor female, man nor beast, who speak but have no mouths, who fly but have no wings, who belch fire, vomit acid, or appear beauteous youths from a distance, but, in troth, are revealed as unspeakable monstrosities when the hapless pilgrim is enticed within their grasp.
Piteous, indeed, the laments of the those you so justly slaughtered in Our Name, women, children, and sheep, as well as the valiant Warriors who dared meet you in combat, who you cast into the Seven Hells.
And, now, Sir Knight, We bid thee that wholesome rest you so well deserve, here in this, the Eighth Hell; while some call Our Hell "The Weekend:" We prefer to think of Our temporal Kingdom of Fire and Brimstone as "The Days of Off."

I'm more feeling like the Noble Knight's horse's excrement...

Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?

Yeah, this Visual Studio Community thing and the ASP.NET 5[^] thing, they're both just perfect. Microsoft really is going to rule the Cloud and the IDE platforms. When I was reading the blog posts for ASP.NET stuff, and all other things ASP.NET now offers, less compilation, cross-platform, I really felt a little proud; not little obviously.
Using these two, Microsoft has really shocked the competitors, the support for Android emulator (infact the creation of...) and the best thing is that it is for Free! Yayy.. In ASP.NET, what I like is the JSON format for the settings and configurations. I really hated that XML; no offence to XML, but JSON seems fair to me. The new package IntelliSense and many more features make it "Still the best IDE".
But, still in the preview mode. I will wait until the public release is out to download.

I checked it - I can say it's more like a professional edition - for free...
A great step from Microsoft - the second in a month - toward the development community...

Forgive the ignorant. What was the first step?
In case I missed something important (just like this community edition, which I would have missed had I not read this post).
Thanks,

On Future Decoded 2014 they handed out Gummi Bears to visiting developers...

It's software they used to charge for that is now being given away. I'm sure you can find something negative about it if you want. It's also missing load testing tools, code diagrams, all the architect tools, etc.

Any hiccups/ issues?
I have just installed VS2013 express for Web and Desktop on new laptop and haven't started using it.
Shall I be uninstalling other express editions first and then install this community ?
Thanks,
Milind

0 issues. 100% awesomeness.

If you want to, I guess. Doubt it would hurt.
I didn't bother though.

Only problem I have with it is that .Net 5 is not included.

Probably only for home or FOSS use; if your business is larger or has more than a handful of devs you'll still need to pay for MSDN.

Q: Who can use Visual Studio Community?
A: Here’s how individual developers can use Visual Studio Community:
* Any individual developer can use Visual Studio Community to create their own free or paid apps.
Here’s how Visual Studio Community can be used in organizations:
* An unlimited number of users within an organization can use Visual Studio Community for the following scenarios: in a classroom learning environment, for academic research, or for contributing to open source projects.
* For all other usage scenarios: In non-enterprise organizations, up to 5 users can use Visual Studio Community. In enterprise organizations (meaning those with >250 PCs or > $1MM in annual revenue), no use is permitted beyond the open source, academic research, and classroom learning environment scenarios described above.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Hi, I'm glad it's working for you !
Isn't there some difference in functionality, or limits, with the Community edition compared to a purchased VS 2013 Pro ?
thanks, Bill

I don't know. Haven't found any yet.
The only difference is licensing, if that counts. As an individual, you can use it to create/sell whatever you want. Organizational use is limited.
