Hi,
I am developing a web app using C# and asp.net. I am trying to incorporate the tooltips available here http://walterzorn.com/tooltip/tooltip_e.htm#browser into my project, specifically the ability to display an image when the user scrolls over an icon. It is easy to hardcode an image to display but I need to be able to change the image displayed by the icon, this is the code needed to display an image
onmouseover="Tip('Text with image.')"
So im just wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions…..
Thanks in advance

As the Javascript is in an argument in an html element, you have to html-encode the script:
onmouseover="Tip('Text with <img src="pics/image.jpg" width="60">image.')"

thanks for the reply but do you know if it is possible to change the text in onmouseover="xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
an example would be different users loggin on to the same page and viewing a pic specific to them in the tooltip

Yes. Use the Attributes collection of the control. Example:
SomeControl.Attributes["onmouseover"] = Server.HtmlEncode(@"Tip('Text with <img src=""pics/image.jpg"" width=""60"">image.');");

oh ok nice one this is what i need thanks a lot but one last question i am just trying to test the different images on the tooltip but when i try and enter the text needed into a text box and update from there i get the following error
A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (_ctl0:tbPic="Tip('<img src=\'pics/imag...").
do you know what would be causing this error and this is the text i am entering
Tip('<img src=\'pics/image.jpg\' width=\'60\'>')
Thanks again

It's the request validation that throws the exception. It filters out requests that contain special character combinations. In this case it's probably the < > characters that are stopped.
You can turn off the request validation by using ValidateRequest="false" in the @Page directive.

Can you give more details?
Are you opening a new window with Javascript. Are you making a floating div visible?

We have a website that should be designed in the way the surveymonkey.com is designed.when u open a child window from the parent window the background should be blured and the child window will open as a popup.but the url remains a same
Hope you got my point.

It looks like DHTML and CSS. I only asked because I would like to do the same thing and have not done it. It looks like a combination of layering with DHTML and CSS
THe bottom layer: The regular window.
The middle layer: a div the size of the window with a transparent GIF.
The top layer: a div with the contents of the child window.

Hey
I am not sure where XML comes in but this doesnt appear to be a small task as unless any one knows a better way the only way I can think of doing it is this:
Create/Find code that will parse and render the html then tinker with it to save it to an image object and then save the contents of the image object to a jpg. Another way would be to pass the html to an explorer/netscape browser object and then take a screenshot (in code) and then you have your picture.
Overview of image class: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.drawing.image.aspx
I have no experience doing this and there are probably far simpler ways but I dont know them and this is how I would go about doing it.

Hi All..
In an aspx page i have webform with some textboxes and a simple
button. When the button is clicked, there is a postback and then the
code in the click event of the button is executed.
However in this code (click event of the button), i'm processing an
online payment, which takes about 5 seconds. While waiting for the
payment to be processed, the user can click again on the button, and
this is what i want to block. I want to disable the button once
clicked, and then execute the code for the web payment.
However when we disable a button in the Load event, the page is only
displayed after the Unload event, so the button still appears as
enabled when executing the code in the click event of the button.
I tried to call a javascript function on the onclick of the button to
disable it using dis javascript:
function clickHandler()
{
form1.btnSave.style.visibility = 'hidden';
}
RegisterOnSubmitStatement("Submit", "clickHandler();")
its working fine. Im getting problem when im using mastepage. In javascript im using "form1.controlID..." to get controlId. But in master page i try to get dis controlID lik dis way..
"ContentPlaceHolder1.controlid.. " but its nt woking pls help me..
Thanks in Advance

Hey
You can try disabling the button using javascript (although browsers without JS enabled will not disable the button)
If you google for the code to disable a button you will find it.
To do this server side you will need a database entry (or some other way of persisting data) so that if the button is clicked your server side code checks to see if you are processing payment and then runs if not or exits if processing is occuring. Using the database will add time to your processing.

HI,
I am a little new to this, so i have a small query if anyone can help me on it.
I have a parent channel, with 4 sub channels(which are hidden from in the live site), in the 1st sub channel there are 33 entries, in the second there are 27 in the third there are 21 in the fourth there are 9 and the last one has three.
In the live site when i click on the parent channel link it shows me 15 entries on each sub channel with 3 pages (1, 2, 3) as it has 37 entries, the first sub channel it shows 1 to 15 on first page, 16 to 30 on second page and so on, problem is when i click on the second page though it shows correct 16 to 30 for the first sub channel it shows 16 to 9, 2nd page for the fourth channel, whereas it does not have more than 9 entries, and same for the last sub channel
What are the properties and where do i find them to make the necessary changes are they channel properties or page properties

Hi,
I am looking for already existing websites that have been done in pure css. I have a very good example like www.windowsmarketplace.com.
But what I actually mean is a design without tables.
Please can any one please list one or some? I hope to hear from you guys!!

Cannot really be done with the absence of html tags...

This was really a waste of an answer, you know that I am talking of a design with DIV tags and not tables.

Not really.
.NET Enthusiast wrote: DIV tags
That is html.

I never mentioned tables, where did you get that from?

Why is this important to you ? What is the benefit of using DIV rather than table ?? If it is the performance issue I dont think this will have much effect.

I just wanted to share an observation. Correct me if I am wrong. Most of the web-based HTML Editors be it the Yahoo Mail beta, Windows Live Compose Editor etc. when composing HTML messages and when we embolden the text using 'B' toolbar icon (CP 'B' icon seems to stand out ), in the generated HTML, I see they use STRONG tag instead of B tag.
Here are my queries:
1) Are there any visible difference between STRONG and B?
2) I feel that in most of the cases B should hold good at least to compress the page size. Assuming there are twenty-five such emboldened text, we have 17 character sets for every bold operation like
< > STRONG repeating twice (making 16) and a closing / in the second tag.
3) I accept that a few people might reply giving GZip Encoding of the response stream. But on the forefront, if we could use a cheaper way than a costly way, it is more elegant right?

<b> or <strong>, and <i> or <em> (for emphasis)
No, there is no visible difference on the page. The only reason for using the latter versions os for the benefit of screen readers, which may use a different inflection when coming across them. The idea is to use the former versions if all you want is a visual effect, and the latter if you want to make a contextual one.
It's just the accessibility police getting trigger happy again.

Could someone tell me why the onfocus and onblur events only fire once. For example, using the code below, when you bring IE to the foreground the onfocus event fires and when you click on another windows (outside of that instance of IE) the onblur event fires, very good. But I can not get it to fire again, unless I reload the code. I expected these events to keep firing for each time the browser gets and loses focus. Is there something I'm missing or is that just a limitation of IE v7?
Here is a sample test:
function lostfocus()
{
document.write("lostfocus\n")
}
function gotfocus()
{
document.write("gotfocus\n")
}
Thanks...
Rick
