Article Writing Discussion Boards

This user has fed a bunch of Blogs in the last hours.

Some of them are interesting, some of them not worthy (but that's my opinion).

What it bothers me a bit is the signature of the blogs. It changes in a rate that looks suspicious for me.
In some Blogs he is CTO of [LINK]
In some Blogs he is Senior consultant of [Another LINK]
In some blogs he is Co-Founder of [Another LINK]
...

I wonder... why don't just put this information in his profile and leave the Blogs without unneeded links?

P.S. one of the blogs got optimized by the staff and the type was changed to Article (I suppose not in purpose). Can this concrete change be rolled back?

I think the author simply chose the author resources category, is all Smile | :)

First time I clicked on my link, it pointed to only a draft. Then I saw the different versions in the list.

I opened the last one, and changed the cathegory. In that moment, the auto generated Email had the correct user name of the original author. But I saved it as "working status".

Then I wanted to click on publish and the author name changed to "retired author".

I have searched just in case of Spam, I don't see it in the S&A forum.
Now there are 2 Authors (one of them me) but both appear as "retired author"

After refreshing the home page, it is directly listed as approved (because I did the last change), but as authors is "by null"

I don't know what I have done wrong... but would you mind to have a look and correct the mess?

You've opened up a strange door, it seems, using your protector status. I deleted the article and then you tried to make it available by the sounds of things. Now it walks and talks but it has no soul.

What have we done.

That's the point... I usually get a "this article was marked as deleted on Timestamp" message when I visit the articles.

Other times it says "this is an auto generated draft, would you might either discard it or continue the work on it" (i.e. when visiting articles that have been nuked by the S&A corp, then I delete the auto draft because I know that the owner or someone with enough privileges can bring it back from limbo)

This time I got something different. Pity I don't recall exactly what it said, but had to do with "an old/new version". That's why I checked the versions.

I don't know if it will help you digging deeper, but I will describe it as I remember.

#1 one was selected one but there were 3 of them, corrections in the screenshots and tiny text editions. I opened #3 to see what you said about the cathegories and then I could not find "go back and discard changes" button. I just clicked back and #4 was born, then I decided to correct the settings and it got an email with correct author name (it said it would send a copy to "submit@cp.com") where I wrote I changed the cathegory. Then #5 was born, but it was as "no publish", it confused me and #6 was born but this time the email came with "author retired" as name...

then everything went from bad to worst...

First the images were missing, then I tried the "rollback #3" and #7 was born, then I was already asking you for help, I thought maybe if I publish it... #8 was born and the email contained 2x "author retired", then I saw it in the list with "published by NULL"

Then I was already OMG | :OMG:

and started praying to Green Alien | [Alien]

I think it is not all my fault... something is not working as it should with the revisions page.

If I have a look to the "revisions" in this article in moderation it shows the list of the versions but from a "UNTITLED ARTICLE" (big grey letters in the upper left side of the page)

Different browser, different computer as yesterday.

It happens with all articles in moderation, but not with articles that got through and are officially published.

this article contains a lot of links (even the picture is a link) to the proprietary blog of the guy. If the article was a blog, it is supposed to be allowed (I think it shouldn't though) but what to do in this case?

I post it here to avoid "site driving" answers if I post it in other place.

I've removed the links and emailed the author explaining he should use blog submissions, and less links.

If he feeds the same thing please let me know. Sometimes people have problems with their blog entries showing up so they just start submitting articles and not changing the content. It's a tricky line with this one. Sometimes they are trying to spam links to their blog, sometimes they are just lazy and upset with a broken aggregator. I don't want to condemn them all, but maybe take them on a case by case basis.

If a Blog that have been pulled, contains (let's say) 7 or 8 Links to other blog entries with external URLs... is this allowed or not?

I have already seen a lot of blogs full of links to other "parts" of the same Blog domain. E.g.:

This entry is the continuation of this [LINK_to_Blog]. Here we will speak in detail about XXX. If you are new to this topic, you can refer to [LINK_to_Blog] to see part 1 and to [LINK_to_Blog] to see part 2 of the basics. If you are interested in mixing this with that, you can have a look to [LINK_to_Blog] to see the dependant parts and how they interact.

What would you say in one like this?

In my personal opinion... It should not be allowed, it doesn't matter where.

If I want my Blog being fed here, then I can adapt the links the same that I am adapting the code snippets to CP-Project.

I don't think it's reasonable to ask people to submit their blog entries and then chase them around asking them to take all the links to their own blog out (which is a perfectly reasonable thing to do as a blog author). Within reason, of course. Blog authors can select which entries they want aggregated to CodeProject, but I think it would deter them from sharing their entries to force them to adhere to strict, "no post link" guidelines. Again, within reason, some blog entries go too far.

If you're posting an article, it's not just being pulled from a blog, it doesn't necessarily make sense to have links to your blog, you should have just shared it as a blog entry in the first place.

I understand it as:
Blog: If it is a something discrete... leave it. If it is way too full of links, then ask him or tell you.
Article: Since you are writing it out of the blog, then the blog links are not justified and hence not desired.

I have revisited this for another reason and checked the other blogs of the guy... I would say... you should have a look.

All of them contains no relevant image with linkat the beginning
3 of them contain cat gifs and links to youtube for the whole cat video

Not that "illegal" but neither that relevant
